|07:27 pm - Holy $#(*& Where have I been?|
Looks like after December I decided to stop posting here. I have still been reading my very slim friends list though, glad those that are still posting to LJ are doing well. I wonder where others went to? Faceplace (which I dumped last year)? Twitter (where I am most of the time)? Myspace (I hope not)?
What is happening for me? 2011 has been a busy year. We bought a home again after 4 1/2 years of apartment life (our third and hopefully last home purchase for a long time). One good thing about the economic downturn is if you're in the market for a house now is a great time. Found a foreclosure that has been empty for 2 years but was in mostly good shape. Fresh paint/carpet/hardwood laminate floors/kitchen and super reduced. The only down side was $5k in repairs when we moved in to fix water damage and leaking in the front of the house, but better to catch it now than when mold and mildew have come in and the floors are rotted.
P (who has left LJ) graduated from her master's program and is currently working as an academic adviser on a temp contract but has applied for 'her' job and hopefully will get it permanently. We're hopeful for that as being steady full time earning DINKS for the first time would be super-duper.
I finished my 365 day project ( http://robot-a-day.blogspot.com ) and still am going to make robots, it has helped my creativity tremendously. I am looking forward to using my new shop space in our garage. I am still steadily employed although with budget freezes I won't see any pay raises for about 3 years but I'm ok with it as I get paid every other week.
Looking forward to montyollie visiting next week for a couple days. Hoping at some point stevenglassman gets to come out to PDX to visit with gorthx and myself.
I will have a decision to make soon on my account here, I won't dump it - LJ has been a faithful friend for many, many years, but I may drop paid everything at this point.
Hope all the extended LJ people are well, even if you don't post anymore.

I was thinking about the bookmarks you'd get from the school library in the 1970s and they always had a punny saying to go with the picture.

CENTRAL PROCESSING UNITS! comes the call of the Steampunk Skull Zombie Bot.
Made from Skull-A-Day's Steampunk Skull papercraft. Added some LED lights (my first time messing with LEDs not taken from something else).

"I know what you're thinking: 'Did he fire 635 shots or only 634?' Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement I've kinda lost track myself. But being as this is a Megatech 138 Quadricating Plasma Cannon, the most powerful cannon in the world, and would blow your central processor clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel lucky?' Well, do ya, punkbot?"

|07:33 pm - Dumped facebook|
I finally got tired of the bs with facebook. Joined there back in 2006 or 2007 but with the constant shell game they play with privacy as well as having 'friends' requests from many I don't really want to be more than a casual acquaintance with, it was time to go.
Really, I've been cutting down my presence there for over a year but I haven't stepped up my presence here too much. Seems that for most of the 'old timers' on livejournal they've moved on to all facebook or other social sites. I'm coming home to LJ since it was my first online social network in 2004.
I wonder how many of the people on my 'friends' list here even still check LJ? I know a few that I see on childfree sites and twitter still do, may have to ping a couple to see if they are still around.
Anyway, time to try and post here more often. I'm also at RustedSkull.com and a couple blogspot blogs (my robot-a-day and a less often used one.)
